Questions About Vacationing In Maui? We Have The Answers!

vacationing in maui

When you’re planning a vacation in Maui you have lots of questions – where to stay, how to get around, what to bring along, what to do, etc. While our specialty is Maui condo rentals, we know plenty about the island and can answer many of the most commonly asked questions.

Many wonder whether it’s best to rent a hotel room or condo. You may think a condo’s more costly, but when you factor in all the added expenses a hotel builds into their rates along with the fact condos are like a home with a fully equipped kitchen so you can enjoy meals you cook yourself instead of eating out two or three times a day, hotels aren’t really all that cheaper. This is especially true if you split the cost with friends or another couple/family!

What is the best airport to fly into? Flying into the Kahului airport is the best option, as you won’t have to endure a two-hour layover in Maui for a 30 minute connecting flight.

How will you get around once you arrive? While it’s most advantageous in terms of you being able to go wherever you like to obtain a rental car, there are also buses and taxis that can transport you locally for dining, shopping and other activities. A rental car gives you the most freedom.

What about the time difference? Maui doesn’t observe daylight savings time, so according to the time of year on the Mainland, Maui will be 2 to 3 hours behind the West Coast or 5 to 6 hours behind the East Coast.

What to do on Maui? While there’s more than you could possibly do in a week’s times, your top priorities should be getting into the water whether to swim, snorkel or surf. You’ll also want to drive the Road to Hana, visit the Haleakala volcano at sunrise, consider a sunset cruise and hike the Iao Valley Park. Of course there are tons of tourist attractions you’ll want to experience in Lahaina!

Where are the bests places to eat? While some people prefer to dine at the resort where they are staying, you absolutely want to experience local food! While there are plenty of opportunities to dine while enjoying an ocean view, be careful as some of these restaurants charge a premium price. The best dining options and delicious food choices can be found here if you’re staying in the Ka’anapali area.

At Honua Kai’s Finest we provide Maui condo rentals that not only provide luxurious and comfortable amenities, but fantastic ocean views and close proximity to all of the shops, dining and other activities that make vacationing in Maui so enjoyable and exciting.
