Explore the interior of a lava tube, a truly unique experience. Descending into this cool subterranean world, you’ll use a flashlight to explore the intriguing rock formations. This lava tube is the largest on Maui and the 18th largest in the world.
Wai’anapanapa State Park
This beach park offers a chance to spend time at one of Maui’s most beautiful black sand beaches. A trail runs along the cliff of the bay, leading to two freshwater caves. There are also ancient Hawaiian ruins here, making it an important cultural site.

Hamoa Beach
Stop for a swim at Hamoa Beach, a beautiful crescent shaped beach curled up against crystal clear aqua waters. The sandy ocean bottom, along with facilities such as bathrooms and showers make this a great spot to take a dip!
Wailua Falls
The Road to Hana drive is known for its numerous waterfalls, so you’ll want to choose a few to stop at and admire. Wailua Falls is easily accessible along the roadside, where you can admire its tall cascade with no hike required.

Planning Your Hana Highway – Road to Hana Day Trip
Those who don’t want to spend a full day or two in the car choose to drive a portion of the Hana Highway Maui – Road to Hana before doubling back.
